The 2012 Colorado PTA Convention is just around the corner. It kicks off on Friday, April 20.

The draft convention schedule has now been published on the COPTA web site’s 2012 convention page. Bookmark the page for updates as the date draws near.

Reflections theme for 2011-2012 announced

Each year, the PTA Reflections Program challenges students to create art inspired by a specific theme. Themes are selected from hundreds of ideas submitted by students to the PTA Reflections Program Theme
Search.

This year’s theme has been chosen: “Diversity Means”

Strive for 105

Colorado PTA’s membership theme is: “Strive for 105”

The Colorado PTA will turn 105 years old in 2012 and the Board of Directors is imagining every PTA having at least 105 members. To help encourage the effort, the following campaign is announced:

Units with the following number of paid members by the deadlines will be entered into a drawing for a “Buy One Get One” registration for the annual Colorado PTA Convention, April 20-21, 2012.

August 31	5 or more members
September 30	25 or more members
October 31	45 or more members
November 30	65 or more members
December 31	85 or more members
January 31	105 or more members

NOTE: Units must be in good standing and dues must be submitted to Colorado PTA by the deadline noted to be eligible each month. Units with double the required members will be entered twice!

Mark your calendars! The 91st Colorado PTA Annual Convention will take place on April 20 and 21, 2012, at the Omni Interlocken Resort. The 2012 convention’s theme is “Imagine.”

Increasing Opportunities for Physical Activity

Parents, please join Colorado Action for Healthy Kids at our Denver Metro Fall School Wellness Roundtable (reservations required).

Our discussion topic will be Increasing Opportunities for Physical Activity in your School Community. Learn about the new physical activity requirements for Colorado’s elementary schools and how parents can support physical activity initiatives. Share successes, resources and ask our panel of experts for advice.

Convention workshops earn 10 clock hours for teachers

This year the Colorado PTA would like to encourage Teachers (the “T” in PTA) to attend our Annual Convention. Teachers can receive “In-Service ” re-licensure credit hours by attending workshops that are relevant to their work. Workshops take place on Saturday, April 16th (see the workshop schedule).

Colorado PTA is proud to announce that Michelle Pearson, the Colorado Teacher of the Year will be the keynote speaker during lunch. The cost of this event for one day is $200.00 which includes

your certificate,
three meals,
workshops, and
the opportunity to network.
